Launch Youth-Led Conservation in your Community
The Green Crew Summit is a one-day leadership intensive and “build lab” for youth and advisors ready to launch a Green Crew.
This is not a workshop. Not a camp. This is a working summit. Selected crews will:
• Build a real launch plan
• Define their first conservation project
• Get an experience young adult mentor
• Connect into a national movement
You arrive with an idea. You leave with a plan — and a path forward.
We are selecting 8–12 crews. An ideal crew would includes:
• 2 youth leaders
• 1 adult advisor
This is designed primarily for:
• IWLA Chapters ready to launch a Green Crew
But also open to:
communities without a current IWLA Chapter youth and advisors ready to build something new
Your team does not need:
• an existing program
• a formal name
• prior structure
You do need:
• commitment
• curiosity
• readiness to lead
Youth with backgrounds in:
• Scouting (Scouts BSA, GSUSA)
• environmental leadership
• service work
…are especially encouraged to apply.
This is a Build Lab + Retreat experience. You will:
• Design your Green Crew launch plan
• Define your first conservation/service project
• Establish roles between youth and advisor
• Learn the Green Crew model (youth-led, science-based, action-oriented)
• Build relationships with other founding crews
You’ll also experience:
Outdoor programming on-site in the Minnesota Valley
• Time for connection, reflection, and cohort-building
• Direct access to current Green Crew leaders
This is a Fellowship — not just attendance. Selected crews commit to:
• Launching a Green Crew in your community
• Completing a first conservation/service project
We are looking for teams ready to move from idea → action.
Fellowship — no cost to attend

Lodging Options:
• Limited hosted lodging
• On-site camping available
Fellows are integrated into the full Convention experience. Participants will:
• Register as a Youth Convention Counselor (Junior or Adult)
• Receive free Convention registration (including meals)
Additional opportunities:
• Optional mentored experience at the Minnesota Zoo (Thursday)
• Recognition at a special Green Crew table at the Saturday Banquet.
