Food & Sustainability

Food at the 2026 Izaak Walton League of America National Convention is not an add-on. It is part of the program. This year, we are proud to offer a shared dining experience that reflects our values — community, stewardship, sustainability, and care for people and place — while ensuring that every attendee is welcomed fully into the life of the convention.

Shared Meals, Shared Purpose
We believe that some of the most meaningful conversations happen around the table — and not just once a day. In past conventions, food was typically limited to select meals, often lunch or dinner, with other meals handled individually. For 2026, we made a deliberate shift. This year, the convention food experience includes:

• Daily breakfasts
• Mid-morning and afternoon snacks
• Lunches and dinners shared by all attendees

By bundling food throughout the day and designing it as a shared experience, we ensure that:

Everyone is nourished from morning through evening
• No one is excluded based on cost or access
• Meals and breaks become natural spaces for connection, learning, and collaboration

When we eat together — consistently and well — the convention works better for everyone.

The Best Food Value We’ve Ever Offered
Taken together, this is the most comprehensive and inclusive food model the League has ever offered at a national convention. By planning meals collectively and sharing them across the community, we are able to:

• Offer more meals and snacks than in past years
• Provide greater choice and flexibility
• Maintain high quality while reducing overall cost per attendee

This is one of the rare cases where sharing more actually costs less — and allows us to offer an experience that is both generous and responsible.

A Values-Aligned Food Model
Our food program is intentionally designed to align with the League’s conservation ethic. While this page focuses on the experience, our guiding commitments include:

• Thoughtful sourcing that reflects environmental responsibility
• Menu design that prioritizes choice, flexibility, and inclusion
• An approach that minimizes waste and supports shared abundance

Food is one of the ways we live our values — not just talk about them.

A Culinary Partner in the Mission
We are proud to partner with an award-winning executive chef who brings both excellence and care to the table. Rather than treating food as a commodity, our culinary partner works with us to create meals that support:

• Hospitality without hierarchy
• Generosity without excess
• Quality without exclusion

The result is a dining experience that is memorable, nourishing, and deeply aligned with the spirit of the convention.

Why This Matters
Food is one of the most visible expressions of what an event values. For the 2026 National Convention, our food and sustainability approach reflects a broader commitment:

• To welcome people fully
• To care for land, water, and community
• To create spaces where everyone belongs

We’re proud of this evolution — and excited to share it with you.
